A life-long Hoosier, I grew up on the Southside of Indianapolis and attended an all-boy high school in the central city. I attended Purdue University earning a degree in Economics, following those years at IU Law School Indianapolis. My legal career prior to mediation included work as a private practitioner, Public Defender in Marion County Criminal Court, Indiana Senate Parliamentarian, Certified Management Investment Consultant, Executive Director of the Indiana Lottery Commission, Chief of Staff in the Governor's office, and staff attorney for the Indiana Supreme Court. I am a member of the American Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, the Indianapolis Bar Association, and the Indiana Association of Mediators. In addition to my legal and related experience, I bring an empathy and understanding for the trials and tribulations that life can present.
At Maguire Mediation, I provide expert mediation services designed to facilitate effective communication between disputing parties. My aim is to resolve conflicts amicably, avoiding the need for costly and time-consuming court proceedings. I am available for free introductory consultations by phone or through FaceTime or Zoom meetings.
I am available to assist parties in working to resolve domestic conflicts in these areas: Pre-Nuptial Agreements, Post-Nuptial Agreements, Dissolutions of Marriage, Parenting Time Disputes, Child Custody Issues, Support and Maintenance Matters, and related issues without going to court.
Mediation is a confidential process where the parties are in control. It is different from a trial where the judge makes a binding decision. It is different from arbitration where the parties select an arbitrator to decide the outcome. In mediation, the parties are in complete control, and can walk away at any time without resolution. In most cases the parties do reach a resolution that is on their own terms. The mediator assists in this process.
Mediation sessions are conducted either in person or online at the preference of the parties. A suitable meeting place can be arranged to accommodate the needs of the parties. Or, mediation sessions can be conducted remotely using Zoom meetings.
Hourly rates are billed at $250 and a $500 deposit is required along with a signed contract for services. Mediation sessions are conducted for 2 to 4 hours. The number of sessions required to reach a resolution of disputes is totally up to the parties. If the parties prefer to conduct and complete a mediation in one session the rate is a flat $2,500.
If the mediation process is something that looks right to you, or you have any questions about it, please contact me. I would like to get to know you and let you learn more about me.
